I can just guarantee that this book is going to stay with me for a very very long time. It’s unlike anything I’ve read before. I don’t typically look for books with a cultish theme, but I couldn’t not read that after seeing it recommended on Tiktok. It didn’t disappoint. From the get go, we’re introduced to one of our main characters, David, attending the funeral of another cult survivor, Emily. We also meet Beth and Deacon here too.

While the beginning was rather slow, once it started to speed up it kept at a steady pace, with twists and turns and various jumps between characters and years. It was all in all, a very interesting read which truly devastated me by the end.

I will say for anyone thinking of reading this, please check the trigger warnings as it’s steeped in issues with religion, mental well-being and death. If you’ve suffered from any religion based abuse, i wouldn’t recommend this as it may drag up unwanted feelings.

A little cheesy at times but interesting nonetheless.

I listened to the audiobook. This was great until the last hour or so. I had guessed what the ending would be, but held out hope that I was wrong. It's a very well written book and a great story, the end just fell very, very flat.
