I don’t think I’m the target reader for this story - I should have done my research a bit more before reading. My bad!
It reads very child-like so presuming it’s for a younger audience, but sometimes those stories are still enjoyable but I didn’t really enjoy this one.
I found this off the normal Marvel path. I was waiting for the “baddie” to be unmasked at the end and the mystery inc van to show up. Actually that would have probably made the story better.
It doesn’t offend, it offers a quick nice and easy read, with a decent enough storyline. But alas if you’re over 12 I’d probably give it a miss.

I love Marvel and I love Alan Gratz. He does such an amazing job at writing historical fiction and Captain America is the perfect Marvel character for him to write. Set in WWII, Cap and Bucky work together to end a Nazi plot. I enjoyed how Alan not only touched on the Nazi's bigotry but also the U.S.'s. The story dealt with fantastical elements but didn't distract from the historical significance of the setting. Bucky and Cap are technically just kids in this (15 and 17) and I enjoyed how Alan addressed this, especially considering that Bucky looks like a kid but Cap doesn't. This was a fun read and I would love to see more like this from Alan Gratz.

This book gets some extra star points for calling out a racial slur! I’m not sure it was meant to be as funny as I found it. More of a romp with name dropping than a solid story, but fun all the same.

The artwork is amazing, the plot itself is just okay.
