I liked it at first, but it just went tooooo slowwwwww and the main character totally lost me. Wasn't quite what I expected/hoped, super disappointed

For fans of "Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries" and anyone who ever loved dragon books ever, "A Natural History of Dragons" is a sweet, innovative book about a naturalist in a fantasy Victorian-esque era who is determined to spend her life researching dragons, rules of society be damned.

Maybe there already exists a term for books about people who enthusiastically study fantasy creatures (think not only Emily Wilde but also Spiderwick Chronicles and Fablehaven) but I always find them so endearing because of the main characters' passion. Throw in a little side of romance and you have the perfect recipe for a book that's both entertaining and well-written.

I have nothing against the writing it just got boring and it started off good, but then the main character just became insufferable and I couldn’t.
