I loved this book. There were a few things I dislike. I somewhat dislike how he had a girlfriend and basically broke up with her for the other girl. But in this book it wasn’t that bad and wasn’t entirely on him. But it bother me the tiniest bit. But the couple was so cute I forgot about it. I loved the tension and banter they had. I absolutely loved getting to see sawyer and beck with their baby. They are my favorite couple. This book was overall kind of sweet and cute. It had a little bit of guessing but overall was kind of a sweet book. I couldn’t put it down and enjoyed it. I could potentially see reading this in the future. Would recommend especially if you have read beck and sawyers book. 4/5

DNF at 49%. This entire story felt incredibly boring to me. There was not a single ounce of me that yearned for these characters to get back together… the heroine (Emma) could’ve ended up with Soulja Boy for all I care.
Emma is written with no personality other than being away from her hometown for nine years and Caden’s entire personality is being a cop that Emma left nine years ago. If I ever see the phrase “nine years ago,” in another book, it’ll be too soon.
Most of their backstory feels like it’s *supposed to* be intriguing- but it mostly fell flat for me. Emma finds out her supposed uncle is actually her dad. Fine, I can deal with that. Her first reaction? Peace outta town and never speak to her boyfriend or friends again until said “uncle” dies. But when does Emma show back up? Two months after he died. HUH?!
I don’t know, I just felt like I was plopped into this book missing a bunch of context, characters with any redeemable qualities, and a storyline that made me feel invested. There’s zero sexual tension which you’d typically expect to see in a “second-chance” romance. The closest they get to “tension” (from what I’ve read) is sitting near a fire behind a mill late at night (and alas, the hero just *assumes* the heroine will be there and he’s right.) Their conversations are dull and contain barely any banter. There’s lots of inner dialogue between the two characters and barely any external dialogue which would at the very least up the stakes. Which just reiterated the fact that I couldn’t have cared less if these two characters ever saw each other again- much less if they ever formed a romantic relationship.
I can see how other people might enjoy this book but it lacked any excitement for me and therefore, will most likely remain on my DNF forever.

3.5 - i absolutely love small town romances & this second chance romance was really sweet however it didn’t really seem to have a huge plot though it was really fast paced which i also liked :)
