a nice quick and easy weekend read! i picked this book up because i LOVEDDD hold still and we are okay by bestie nina lacour. i read boy meets boy and will grayson, will grayson a while ago, but they didn't stick out to me as much for some reason..? i think i just prefer lgbtq books with darker themes. and yes, this is one of nina lacour's more lighthearted works, because hold still was just fucking depressing (in a good way ofc)

favorite character is probably mark, but thats just because i liked his side plot more than katies? i loved katie and violet of course!!!! but idk i just gravitate towards the sadder side story lol

spoiler about ryan how i felt about ryan
i really tried to hate ryan, but honestly i felt i could relate to him more throughout the novel. internalized homophobia is a BITCH and can make you seem more dickish than you actually are (i would know...) i also was pleasantly surprised at how well his and mark's storyline wrapped up, how they stayed besties! ryan is so lucky for having a friend like mark though bc i would not have been that nice to him...

not much else i want to say, loved katie and violet and markie poo (garrison is underrated too tbh) also ryan was a little uncomfortably relatable at times. the message of this book was great and honestly very needed. i was feeling really discouraged last night because i felt like i didn't know where my life was taking me and i didn't rly feel safisfied with how it was going..like i basically have no idea what i want..but this book made me realize that most people are in the same boat as me!

i also would like to share a quote  “You're becoming. You're in the process of becoming. You just don't know what yet. That felt right. It felt okay to stop there, for now, as we walked through the future.” it really stuck with me for, past reasons i just mentioned

only complaints i have is a wish they fleshed out some of the characters more..some parts felt a little rushed but ig the point of the book was to have a bunch of stuff happen over just one week. i honestly don't really like books that only take place over a couple of days
