This has become one of my favorite thriller and book of the year. I will never forget the rush it gave me when I read it and it seriously shook me to the core. I like to write it without disclosing much because it will definitely spoil your experience.

After a long time, I got to reacquaint with my Eddie. The very first line made me laugh out loud. I was thankful for him because his POV soothed me after reading some horrifying things.

I loved how they found out most of the things with little or no evidence available. The arrest thing and the cash stunt were by far my most favorite things done by Eddie. I want more books in this series. Please don't end it.

Bloch has stole my heart with her fearless nature. The way she stood when the deputy swung the stick gave me goosebumps. Hell, she didn't even flinch at that. She's definitely a badass.

The thing with the novel is that I knew the killer and knew most of the things that happened. Still, it kept me at the edge of the seat. It gave me heart attacks and It was horrifying to read some POV's especially that Randal Korn. He's a devil in disguise. Most of the persons in this novel are.

I learned some information from this novel. Like the five prosecutors putting 440 people to their death. Which terrified me.

ah yes, another one of mr. cavanagh's clever courtroom thrillers. there were ups and downs, some dull moments, some sharp ones, a bit more murders than were really necessary, but everything pulled through nicely by the end. despite the tiring cult arc, which always bores me to death, the courtroom scenes were executed well, and mr. flynn and co. delivered fantastically. I truly only enjoyed  the trial itself, which made the background scenes that lead up to it bearable. at the end of the day, its all about eddie flynn, and the man never disappoints.

This book gave me physical chills. I enjoyed the suspense but the story made me so angry (and uncomfortable). I hated more characters in this installment than I did in any of the previous books.

That said; Eddie Flynn is probably one of my favorite fictional characters right now. I also really like Kate, she’s smart and I like that she’s different from Flynn but not by much. I also enjoyed reading/hearing more from the supporting characters in this. I think it gave the story some depth that may have been missing otherwise.

Overall, this is a great book. Steve Cavanagh hasn’t missed, so far.

I love that we've taken Eddie and Harry out of New York and given them a whole load of rural-deep-south hostility from the locals to deal with. It changes up the narrative a bit and is a good point in the series to mix things up. The new foursome with Kate and Bloch is also working brilliantly, and I can't get enough of them all together!

This story is bleak, and highlights some of the problems that are still so prevalent in parts of the US (racism, corruption, political extremism). It's a little scary how easily this could all be true. It was wonderful having this group of inherently good people in the fight, but my goodness it was shocking the lengths some of the characters went to in order to further their cause. For a time we really couldn't trust anyone.

I absolutely love it when Eddie - and now Kate - takes someone down in the courtroom. This is where this whole series shines and The Devil's Advocate doesn't disappoint. This installment felt so unique, and between that and the wonderful characters it might be my favourite Eddie Flynn so far. We got to know (and love) Kate and Bloch better, Harry is settling into a bigger role with Eddie, and I can't wait to read the next one and see how it continues.

Steve Cavanagh is the best legal thriller author and I won’t be told otherwise!

This is the latest book in Steve Cavanagh’s legal thriller series about our favourite ex-con man turned New York lawyer, Eddie Flynn.

I’m sure everyone is sick of hearing me talk about how much I’ve loved this series (admittedly the newest ones over the older ones but, they’re all good!!) I was a bit skeptical going into this one because I’ve loved Thirteen, Twisted and Fifty Fifty so much I wasn’t sure this would live up to the standard. But I had NOTHING to be worried about!

This story follows Eddie and his team, which are actually more of an extremely close family, to a small town in America. There they are defending a young black man who’s been framed by the people of power in the town. If they lose, Andy will be sent to death row.

The book is faced paced, chilling, twisty, brilliantly written and just simply amazing!! My only tiny critique would be I feel the ending felt a little bit rushed, but that’s probably because I didn’t want it to end!!

Whenever I’ve finished one of Steve Cavanagh’s books I get the worst book hangover.

Synopsis from the book cover:
“A deadly prosecutor;
They call him king of death row. Randal Korn has sent more men to their deaths than any district attorney in the history of the United States.

A twisted ritualistic killing;
When a young woman, Skylar Edwards is found murdered in Buckstown Alabama, a corrupt sheriff arrests the last person to see her alive, Andy Dubios. It doesn’t seem to matter to anyone that Andy is innocent.

A small town boiling with rage;
Everyone in Buckstown believes Andy is guilty. He has no hope of a fair trial. And the local defence attorney assigned to represent him has disappeared.

A former con-artist;
Hot shot New York lawyer Eddie Flynn travels south to fight fire with fire. He plans to destroy the prosecutors case, find the killer and save Andy from the electric chair.

But the murders are just the beginning
Is Eddie Flynn next?”
