The premise was so unique and intriguing, but the execution was disappointing. I get what the author was going for, but sometimes simple is better. The second part is a terrible joke.
Characters were either awful or forgettable. Hex also suffers from a bad "men writing women" disease. Women were so one dimensional and the focus on their physical appearance was distasteful (we had to be reminded multiple times that Griselda was FAT and some other lady HAD A LARGE FOREHEAD). Just plain, old misogyny, nothing new.
There was also a weird fixation on nipples and breasts. Why? I would like to know too.
The witch had tits
poked with a knife
. One character has someone grab her boob and squeeze it to teach her a lesson (?). A teenage boy gets an honorable nipple mention! Boobs. Tits. Breasts. Nipples.

The story is more unique than most stories about witches, but not much happens and believe the reviews about the misogyny. I don't think things such as "somalian n**** gangbanging a women who doesn't enjoy it" needs to be mentioned to describe a look on her face caused by completely unrelated events.
It seems as if the writer is trying to be shocking because..horror, but it falls out of place. All descriptions and name calling about women come from the narrator, not a character. This guy indeed does not like women.

Dnf. Feel free to spoil the ending to me

This was a fun read. I wasn’t a big fan in the beginning, but I definitely got reeled in after a while.

I liked this even more than Echo! The narrative was engaging with great characters that really makes the chaos that ensues even more terrifying. It doesn't read like a horror at first, just like the town seems like a pretty normal town except for their haunting.

People talk about villages having their very own idiot, but in Hex, this small town has it's very own witch. And not the nice witch, but a rather ominous you know something bad is going to happen witch.

This witch placed a curse on the town long ago and once you move there, you can never leave....well, you can leave, but there's a price (don't want to spoil it for you). She now roams the town and can show up randomly in your house and just float there for hours. It's creepy and disturbing and the fact you can't ever get away from her, well, that just makes for a hell of a long life co-existing with a scary dead witch.

Things turn for the worse when a group of bored and stupid boys decide to degrade, humiliate, and taunt the town witch. It's a crazy ride....

Good Halloween read.

The reason for putting this book aside is due to the fact that from the point in which i have read up to i have not been able to connect at all with any of the characters.
Tyler and Steve are likeable, but apart from that no one really is and even then Tyler and Steve are not that interesting for me to keep on reading about them.
Even though i am putting this book aside, in the future i might come back to it due to the concept of ancient evil and modern technology coming together to create an original witch tale, it is just not as interesting as i would want it to be right now for me to carry on.
