A fast read! I knew that it would be a roller coaster, but also wish it was a bit darker. I feel like I could have had 50 more pages of character development, because I wasn't attached to anyone at the end. Being how dark the book is, maybe that was a good thing.

Describing the book to my partner there is some moments you have to willfully suspend your disbelief that this could all happen. It's dark, it's fluff, it's quick.

Alright, let’s talk about this one. I enjoyed it. Every second of it. I sped through this book and read until my eyes were dry and my head was pounding. There’s not a single thing I would change. Colleen Hoover delivered a book entirely out of her comfort zone and normal writing style. The spook factor was there. The unreliable narrator was there. The questionable characters were there. It checked all the boxes. But it was not nearly as dark as everyone has made it out to be. Yes, there were tough topics that were a bit unsettling at times. But, I’ve read much darker and I definitely would not classify this as a “dark” read. Just me? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, a phenomenally executed plot. I loved the different POV’s executed in such a unique way. I hope Hoover keeps going with thrillers and “darker” reads - she definitely had a talent for this genre, as well.

Honorary Mention: Hoover was able to absolutely nail the spooky New England vibes in this one. As a born & bred New Englander, I’m extremely pleased with the way this was done. I could not have chosen to mood read this one at a better time. Maybe I’ll do another mood read next…
