This really wasn’t what I was expecting,
Once started, it just got better and better.

What I really like about British spy novels is the slow burn, and quick twist. this book had that down cold. it's tight, witty, normal and slick characters are all well written.

great airplane read.

Returning to this having read the trilogy when it was first released. I really like the way that Deighton doesn’t explain everything and leaves you to make the connections that Samson is making. Sometimes it means you may need to re-read a section, but it’s enjoyable. Although the author hated the adaptation by ITV, mentally I keep on seeing Ian Holm as Bernard.
