Not a single likeable character on the whole Island, what a drag.

I read this right after I read the Paris Apartment and enjoyed this one less. It was still decent though! I like the way that Lucy writes and her characters.
1/5 stars | god, THIS BOOK WAS SO BORING. i got to page 140 then had to skip a few pages so i can fast forward to the end because there was just nothing happening. the one star is because i didn't expect the ending but it was kind of anticlimactic i guess :( overall, THIS BOOK WAS NOT WORTH IT.

i hated almost every character in this book, but the mystery was good and not predictable. good read if you want murder mystery and to be extremely angry at fictional characters.

I usually don’t like POV changes but this one was well done. Finished this book in one sitting it all comes together wonderfully.
A tension filled mystery that I would recommend to people who liked Girl on a Train and at least the tv show Big Little Lies (did not read the book so I don’t know if they compare or not). Definitely some trigger warnings for this book though that if you research it will probably spoil some twists for you. As an audiobook I will say the ending felt very abrupt because it had a preview for the Hunting Party to get to, so when it finished on a sentence that didn’t feel so final it almost felt like I got brake checked by the book and it shouted at me “it’s over, get out!”

Quick easy read. I appreciate that the author wrote who that POF was from at the beginning of the chapters (I have a hard time remembering names with how they're irrelevant in the book)
Good plot twist!

in some ways i was very satisfied with how this came together, and in some ways i was not. it did wrap up the murder mystery perfectly, and the revenge was satisfying. but i was also left with a lot more questions surrounding the rest of the characters. here are my major confusions that were possibly answered in the book but i listened on audio so couldn’t go back to check: -why did olivia suddenly love jules her “big sister” who she is so close to, while jules has never once shown she cares about olivia at all? -who were the people aoife saw that were both cheating, or was it meant to be irrelevant side characters? -just everything about charlie’s character… wtf? -i can see aoife luring them to the island to get revenge on will, and the whole him meeting jules because olivia inadvertently introduced them lines up. but jules’ bestie is also the husband of will’s ex-gf-who-he-drove-to-suicide’s sister??? that part was a little too convenient for me.
this is hard to rate for me because it was enjoyable, but just not memorable. the hunting party wasn’t a fav by any means but i thought it was more suspenseful - this felt a lot more high school drama and less high-stakes/creepy. maybe because we don’t even know someone’s truly dead until like the last quarter of the book, maybe less? the paris apartment remains my favorite of her work, but i would be interested to read more.
