More like three and a half stars.

The broken betrothal is getting to be a thing with this series. Thank goodness the heroine did the breaking this time instead of wating for the fiancée to do it. A cute story, short and sweet.

Keep reading at the end for an excerpt to the third Lost Lords novel, Rafe's book. That one definitely seems like it has a much differentt set-up than the first two (unfortunately it doesn't pub until May 2013. Le sigh. )

I predict this would actually be a 4 star, if I had read the rest of the series, but since I haven't yet....
This was short and sweet, with just a soft jab to the feels at the end.

A while back, I won a mystery box of books.  I passed along several of them, but held onto this slender historical holiday romance novella.  The author is one I've meant to try for a while so I leaped into Deck the Halls of Love with pleasure.

Deck the Halls With Love is #2.5 in a series and features two characters who were side characters in earlier books.

I knew this was only seventy short, quick pages so a lot had to happen quickly.  Chetwyn is free of his own fiance to pursue Lady Merry, but she is currently engaged.  Sounds like he'll have to give in gracefully.  And, he plans to if she's truly in love.  But, then he discovers her fiance is a gambler and in debt so set up the engagement with a compromise to get her dowry.  Poor Lady Merry!  Chetwyn has no true obstacle to his second chance.

I hadn't read the earlier books, but I got the gist of things and, once I saw that Litton was after Merry's dowry, I was fine with cheering on Chetwyn to get to it and make them both happy after he was an idiot the first time around.  A light and quick Victorian holiday season romance hit the spot.

Part of my 25 Books for the Holidays for 2012

How the Deck the Halls with Love put me in the Holiday Spirit: This was a very quick read with just the right setting for a holiday romance.

What I thought of the characters/story: Deck the Halls with Love packed in romance, love, and some very swoon-worthy moments. Y’all I about cried when not only did he want all her dances but he also gave her choices. Oh my, I love when leading men are all about what is best for the leading lady. I loved that she finally saw through farce that was her current suitor and went with the far better man! In 100 pages this story made me fall in love with their love story. Not something that happens very often!
