yall ever read a book and then realize the author hates women

i like the characters. im enjoying the main plot. skirata is a well written complicated man, and the chorus of clone boys is always great. and there are a lot of them in the spotlight here. this does in fact mean that the returning characters from the last book get sidelined, but the newer characters do as well. we have a total of 11 clones, 2 jedi, 2 mandos, and a bunch of characters with minor roles but major plot relevance. its at times difficult to keep track, and i think it would benefit to shrink down the roster a bit.

im distracted by the focus on every clone needing a wife and children as if that will fix everything. this part didnt kick in until later on in the book but once it did oh boy is it overwhelming. lonliness and wanting love is a complicated thing but this feels reductive and strange. etain, a character i liked in the first book because of her uncertainty and willingness to admit it, suddenly finding purpose in life because
shes pregnant
is just so strange and offputting.

A struggle to read, the outright misogyny from a POV character goes completely unchallenged and this, among other things, makes it a difficult read

Another good installment in the RC series. Traviss takes what was good about the first books and makes it better and adds much more to it. The story is pretty much the Commandos going to Coruscant and doing some underground work in to combat separatist terrorism. There's a lot of good action spots, but what I like about her novels is the detail she puts into it. You get a real good sense of trooper life and she makes the clones much more than just one dimensional soldiers. Some pretty interesting things happen in this book, more than just the plot itself. The only thing that I thought could be better is maybe a more climactic ending. There is never really a point where the good side might not pull through; they are always pretty much in control. It would make it a little more suspenseful, but it's still a good story.
