A beautiful and nice summer read, with a touch of Gilmore Girls. I liked Caymen a lot, she has become one of my favourite heroines in YA romances. And Xander, well, I would love to see that smile that could bring peace to a war.
Highly recommended if you like such books as Anna and the French Kiss :)

The beginning was lovely.
The middle was good.
The ending was bad. Or Boring. Or boring and too obvious which made it bad.
The protagonist really saved the book.I can't say the same for a lot of other books I read recently. Dry humor and porcelain doll really is a deadly combination.

I loved the book, i think kasie west is my new favourite author :) Although the ending was a bit ubrupt, i wanted a closure with her dad.
Great vacation read
This teenage chick lit was perfectly light, funny, and just what I wanted to read on vacation. The main character Caymen tries to figure out who she is and what she wants and I liked her development.

2.5 stars. This book was decent but nothing more. I was actually kind of surprised to see all the amazing reviews here.
I found the plot dull and seemed to follow the exact formula of girl-meets-boy, no one wants them together, they date anyways, fall in love, get in a fight, boy makes dramatic love-saving speech blah blah blah. I also found Xander was lacking in any really personality other than being rich, kind and a perfect boyfriend. I much preferred reading about Caymen's relationships with her mother and friends than her relationship with Xander despite the fact that Xander was front and centre of the novel.
As many people pointed out, the ending was
I did find that Caymen's character and her mother's character were well-crafted. I liked Caymen's sarcasm but if anything, got a bit tired of it by the end.
I don't know...maybe it just wasn't my kind of book. If you are going to read it, know that it's more of a humourous, "cute" read than anything thought-provoking like I was hoping for.

Kasie West has done it again. She just blew me away. Although in a way, I think I expected it. Pivot Point was so great that this one just had to be great too. It’s awesome and made me feel all fluffy and light. Seriously brilliant. The characters, the writing, the story… Amazing!
“Sometimes it’s the little things that bring that special someone back to us in some small way.”
The Distance Between Us is about Caymen and Xander. Caymen is an only child and lives with her mom above their doll store. They don’t have an easy life and it’s hard to get around with the little money they have. Now Xander, he’s the opposite. He’s pretty rich and handsome at that. But you know what they say… Opposites attract! But will it last?
God, what can I say about this book that hasn’t already been said in other reviews. This book was so great. I loved all of it. I knew the writing would be really good. I mean, it was great in Pivot Point, so. And I expected the story to be good too. And it is. It’s sweet, romantic, breathtaking and full of cute moments. Those dates Caymen and Xander went on were so weird and original! Well, they didn’t call it dates, but that’s what they were. And I loved that. And it wasn’t insta-love. Their relationship grew and when to romance finally came, it was sooooo amazing. And they don’t tell each other ‘I love you’ immediately, which also is a great thing because I don’t like that very much and it’s not realistic. But this book was!

Of course I loved the characters. Even the minor ones. I mean, Skye and Henry were awesome and so funny! And Mason… Yeah he was okay, but I didn’t really like him that much. I didn’t know whether I liked Caymens mom or not. Sometimes she was pretty annoying, but in the end I got why she acted the way she did. And I liked Xander’s family!
I loved Caymen. I really did. Her humour was just… hilarious. Probably because mine is also dry and sarcastic, so I got all of her jokes and I laughed out loud a lot so. She’s *exceptionally* good at it. And she was very relatable, which made the character more real! But there was one thing that really bugged me. Her attitude towards rich people. Actually, that bothered me with her mom too. They made it such a big deal and the stereotypes were just stupid. So he’s rich, so what? But hey, that’s the only thing in the entire book, so. And Xander is awesome. He’s so perfect for Caymen and I really loved him. He was funny too! Their conversations made me laugh and giggle out loud. (Not fun when I was reading on the bus and people stared at me…) Guess first impressions aren’t always right, which is kind of the message in this book I think.
“Caymen?”
“Yes?”
“You look terrified. Does this scare you?”
“More than anything.”
“Why?”
“Because I didn’t bring my mints.”
“And now the real answer . . .”
“Because I’m afraid that once you catch me, the game’s over.”
Amazing book with a breathtaking, sweet and cute romance. But not just love, also friendship and a very good message about how first impressions can be very wrong. Kasie West, I won’t think twice about buying one of your books ever again. I’m just going to do it. So is my copy of Split Second on its way already or…?
After I read and reviewed On the Fence everyone was recommending me the author’s other contemporary, The Distance Between Us. I know by now it’s near impossible to be disappointed in a Kasie West book so I dove in wholeheartedly, and I was not let down.
The Distance Between Us is a quick read. Its 300 pages felt like nothing, I could definitely read another book about Caymen. This might be why I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, I turned the last page expecting there was more and was kind of shocked to find there wasn’t. It isn’t entirely an open ending, but I found myself wanting a bit more explanation on a few things.
These two, I swear. It’s not often that I ship a couple as much as I did Xander and Caymen. Every time they had a scene together I was glued to the pages, eager to see how their relationship would develop. They work so well together, listening and supporting each other despite their differences. So, the romance? I loved it.

The other characters are great as well, there is a really diverse cast and each one of them was different yet fully fleshed out. Some interesting family relationships are at play here too, as well as friendships. I like how this book explored all the connections, not just the romantic ones.
A random side note that has no significance to the actual story, but doesn’t it seem like the cover almost depicts the opposite of the book synopsis? Like Caymen is the rich one and Xander is the poor one? Anyway.
This is a contemporary I can see myself going back to and reread when I’m in need of a little cuteness and fluff. Definitely recommended.
All opinions are my own. None of these gifs are mine.

I thought Cayman was incredibly likable and wonderfully sarcastic. I really loved the whole cute story and I definitely liked Xander, probably my favorite Kasie West book.
