What a perfect read for a sunny day. A nice story of poor girl meets rich guy with the added benefit that the poor girl, Caymen, is full of sarcasm. Her witty and sarcastic responses were winners (I may have written some down even!) and the rich boy Xander, well I did suspend all disbelief because he really was just the perfect guy who didn't do a thing wrong. I loved him!
This was a cute story with good characters and good dialogue, a few deeper themes and some excellent swoon. Who would have thought that a hand on an ankle could be so swoony!

I wanted to read this in a long time and it was a sweet/cute read :D
Let me first say that the only reason i have this as a two star review is because i wasn't completely satisfied with the book in general. It could have been longer and have a bit more character development and tied endings, but I didn't hate it enough not to finish it or have it as a 1 star.
I wanted to know so much more about Caymen's life, about her mom and Xander and Skye! Yeah, okay we got it!!! She's a poor kid! She grew up poor and has poor friends! I was waiting for her to get past that point! I realize that the theme of the book was basically love can happen anywhere, just like a lot of other teen romance books like this! But COME ON!!
What I did enjoy was Kassie's writing style. She was very good at getting Caymen to be engaging and sound just like a teenager, which I appreciate, being a teenager myself! I also liked Caymen's sense of humor though I was annoyed by how often they kept on repeating how 'dry' her humor was. Xander was like any other guy. Not to specific so I concentrated more on Caymen and her mom's relationship more than theirs. I wanted her friends to get more involved rather than have them when it's convenient, too.
I don't know guys! I guess I'm just so used to fantasy and dystopian that I can't do stuff like this without wondering about what I'm actually learning. I love brainless fluff like this sometimes but this book seemed like too much for me! I mean, it was cute, a quick read and fun, but that stuff doesn't grab me anymore.

Let me be honest, I liked this book because I liked the cute romance between Caymen and Xander but there were still a lot of flaws in this book.
Caymen was a smart, witty, sarcastic, sorta bitter teenage girl who grew up with only her mom and a lot of financial problems. She spent a lot of her time working at the doll store, observing wealthy people squander money on pointless luxury items. But then she meets Xander Spence and everything changes --- as they usually do in romance novels.
There were a lot of serious issues in the book like Caymen's isolation from her grandparents (and how she did not know anything about them), Susan's (Caymen's mom) illness, Xander's feelings towards his dad, and the socioeconomic status stereotypes. But the story ended without really any addressing any of those. However, I've decided to paint my own picture as to how the story should end. For me it all ends in happily ever after so I can get on with my life. It was purely a romance novel so I will treat it as such. So overall, I liked it and I hope that others will too.
