WOLF BRIDE is a well written and steamy historical romance. The treachery and danger of Henry VIII's court made for an interesting backdrop. I enjoyed the intertwining of Eloise's story with the dangers of being a lady-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn, and we all know that Anne's story was not a pretty one. Although Eloise managed to escape one problem she finds herself saddled with a man that she doesn't know, doesn't trust, and definitely does not love in the beginning.
Wolf is a high handed, arrogant, and often selfish man. There aren't flowery words or wooing from Wolf. He coerces Eloise into getting what he wants and doesn't treat Eloise very well. Eloise is young, naive, and lacks confidence in herself. She tolerates way too much from Wolf and doesn't know how to handle him. There is no deep abiding love between Eloise and Wolf. Wolf didn't respect Eloise as a woman or his wife so I found it hard to want them to be together despite the physical chemistry that they had. There was quite a bit of wavering from Eloise throughout the book. She could not seem to decide whether she wanted to love Wolf or not.
WOLF BRIDE was a good read but it doesn't have a strong heroine or a very likable hero either. I do not have a problem with the hero being a jerk or the heroine being dependent on her hero in a historical romance, but I do want the hero to truly fall in love with the heroine and I am not sure that is what happens with this one.

"Wolf Bride" is a historical romance/ erotic fiction with a heavy dose of hotness. It's set during the time of the Tudors (books like this show me that I am still not over the Tudors). As this book opens, King Henry VIII is married to Anne Boleyn, who is suspected of having dalliances with many men other than her husband. However, this book does not focus on Anne Boleyn or Henry really but one of her needs and waiting, Eloise.
Eloise is a naïve woman who has promised to a man who scares her a little bit while at the same time also intrigues her. Lord Wolf is powerful and a little bit intimidating. When Eloise becomes his wife, she is attracted to him in a way that she has never been attracted to another man. I really loved the relationship between Lord Wolf and Eloise. The author did a great job of showing the development of the relationship between the two characters so that everything that happened felt really real. The way that their relationship evolves over the course of the book was really interesting to me. There is a ton of passion and a lot of hotness and this book which I really enjoyed!
A lot of the book focuses on the initial misunderstandings that Lord Wolf and Eloise have of each other. It almost feels as if they are chasing each other in a way, of which I really enjoyed. While for most of the book, the Tudor setting merely plays a backdrop for Lord Wolf's and Eloise's relationship, I did appreciate that the author really tied the characters to their places at court. I think a lot of times historical romances and eroticas can suffer because the time period in which they are set seems undeveloped. This is definitely not the case here! Overall, I enjoyed this book!

There were majorly two reasons why I requested this book - The Cover and the fact that it is based in the Tudor Times.
Tudor times in the British Monarchy is quite an interesting times for a history buff like me! And the fact that this book revolved, not around Queen Anne and King Henry but to the characters around them. I have always wondered about them, you know?
The people whose lives were centered around the King and the Queen, yet had their own lives. How would their lives go? How would the scandal surrounding the court, would affect theirs? These are all the questions that went into my mind, when I read the blurb for this book!
While this has Queen Anne and King Henry in the background, this book is about Eloise and Lord Wolf.
Now, Eloise is one of Queen Anne's lady-in-waiting. She is a little apprehensive of the court life - with the kind of relationship that Queen has with her King. And yet, she is also naive; never understanding that the Court is more scandalous and shallow than she could have ever imagined. She is a little naive, but even then she is an intelligent woman who while understands that it isn't looked at favorably, still does speak her mind!
Lord Wolf, on the other hand, is a hardened soldier, who marries Eloise because he was intrigued by her. For him, this is supposed to be nothing but a marriage of convenience with a lot of lovemaking thrown in of course ;) Now he is arrogant, chauvinistic (which is to be expected of course!), yet has a vulnerable side that he closed off after his long lost love and it is Eloise who slowly gets him back to life :D
Eloise and Lord Wolf together are absolutely scorching! I mean literally "off the pages and burn you with the heat" kind of hot together! I absolutely loved their interactions and the slow way the fell in love with each other. In fact, their relationship progressed quite nicely for two people who believed the worst of each other at the start ;)
Perfectly working with the story is the background arc of non - fiction surrounding the story of Eloise and Lord Wolf. The scandal surrounding Queen Anne and her relationship and subsequent beheading moves perfectly in sync with the Eloise and Wolf's lives. Ms. Moss has perfectly captured the time and essence of the Tudor Times.
Oh and ignore the "Fifty Shades of Tudor" marketing job, because while this is an exciting, lustful and beautifully bold story, it is nothing like the massacre that Fifty Shades of Grey! It is a perfect blend of non - fiction and fictional erotic romance set in the times of wife killing King Henry of England.
