This has me squealing like a teenaged girl. This is the volume folks. Iku is out meeting with Hikaru’s brother to discuss ideas on book censorship and his efforts of getting her to join his organization. The only issue is that the entire team knows this is a bad situation and can lead to issues in politics. Dojo isn’t haven’t any of this and goes to Iku to get her out of that situation. He’s worried about her inquiry and wants to make sure he’s ok. After this Iku gets one hell of a realization half way through the book. Loved seeing the effects this brings especially when the team is faced with a new issue at the library. It’s been a little bit since I’ve picked up one of these volumes but absolutely loved it just the same. Definitely going to continue soon now that I know my library has them available in ebook while we what for things to open back up.

I liked that the reveal of who the prince is is finally out in the open. I still get confused when there is a jump scene and characters switch suddenly without a chapter break, but its getting a little better.

FINALLY!

For those who have yet to begin Kiiro Yumi's series, "Library Wars: Love & War", volume 8 is when the penny FINALLY drops for several of our favorite members of the Library Task Force!

I would like to think that when I was experiencing dorm life in college that women like Kasahara, Shibazaki, and Marie would have been my roommates. Their male counter parts would have been equally close friends and allies, and I could see us all having a great time in the school library before heading out to a local late night dive for dinner.

What I enjoyed about this particular volume was how Shibazaki acknowledges that while goals can be identical, the journey there does not have to be. This is the story of my life, and millions of others, and all the more reason to feel reassured that while no two paths are the same: that is okay.

I have made the decision that I will wait to see where the newest mission of the LTF goes, even though the mission is dangerous and ends on a cliffhanger, until I move to Pittsburgh and receive my new library card. While the wait will be tough, the rewards will be worth it!

Shibazakiiiiii. I did not expect to ship her with Tezuka but I am definitely being won over by this turn of events. They're both super competent hard workers! He looks like this most of the time -- •ิ_•ิ -- and she laughs at him! (because he's hilarious omg, what a secret doof) And obviously Iku and Dojo continue being amazing (you're too tall! sit down so I can offer a comforting headpat! xDDDDD i like how he's clearly got a mental toolkit of things to do to make people feel better. help him help you iku! tallness was not accounted for when he developed these strategies!). 4 stars

UGHHH Shibazaki I'm sorryyyyy

I can't believe it took us 8 VOLUMES TO GET TO THIS POINT.

Minus one star for the last beginning arc in this one.

Did I read this while giggling in delight? Yes I did. There's just so much. EVIL BROTHER. Shibazaki being RECRUITED AS A SPY and also destroying dudes. The suspicious boss is UP TO NO GOOD. Dojo shows up in full dress uniform. Shibazaki goes undercover on a mission!

And side note: I did appreciate that while they're trying to catch a creeper by deliberately dressing as "bait", there's never any hint that Marie (or Shibazaki for that matter) have been doing anything to lure in the people harassing them except existing. Shibazaki has to take constant precautions because people harass her for things entirely outside of her control (the fact that she's pretty), to the point that she's changed how she interacts with the entire world and doesn't trust anyone. And there's no sense at all that she "brought it on herself" or wants it to happen, or any of that nonsense. Which is a low bar to clear, but it's remarkable how often narratives don't clear it.

Oh yes and also there is romance.

The library acquired most of the series, so I checked out all the volumes I don't have and started reading it again. Issues of censorship are even more important than the last time I read this series, with the proliferation of fake news and science denial, making Library Wars timely read.

Iku finally discovers the identity of her prince, much to her dismay. Wasn't her prince TALLER? Wasn't he more noble? This poor girl can be so indecisive and clueless when interacting with others, but put her in a dangerous situation and her true strengths emerge. I am curious to see how her relationship will progress with Dojo, now that they both know the truth. I think they make a cute couple, and there's a lot of chemistry better them.
