Really wish we could do .5 star ratings because I would have given it 3.5. A little predictable, but enjoyable.

enjoyed. although I am a little miffed at the very end, I assume it will be addressed in the 2nd book!!! Engaging read.

Fast paced, page turner. Highly recommend.

Solid if not novel. Sayer Altair is a strong female protagonist. She is a rising neuroscientist/FB I profiler with a super angsty past called to lead an investigation to find a suspected serial killer in DC. Although the author goes to some effort to show her as a flawed but highly determined and capable person, her strength and resolve seemed forced to me and a bit over the top. But despite a predictable villain, the serial killer aspect of the story is suitably thrilling although Sayer is literally handed most of the clues in this cat and mouse game. You’ll have to suspend disbelief but it’s still entertaining. Book one of a new series. BTW, who rides their motorcycle in the snow? Is that a thing?

I'm not even sure how i stumbled upon this fbi thriller, but i enjoyed it for the most part. quickly: FBI agent Sayer Altair (that name...) is called in to investigate a series of shocking crimes: sombody is kidnapping girls, locking them up in cages, and slowly starving them to death. when it is revealed that one of the girls is the missing daughter of a US senator, the investigation is thrust into the national spotlight and Sayer must track down the killer before another victim is caged. this was a quick, easy read and i found the mystery interesting and engaging. the killer has a very unique motive and i enjoyed the cat-and-mouse aspect of hte story. i had one HUGE issue with the book, which was that I solved the case with 25% of the book left to go...literally, the characters find a piece of evidence that makes it so clear who the killer is, ignore that evidence, and then go on to arrest hte most glaring red herring ever. i was so frustrated that these agents (who were supposed to be the best in their field) couldn't figure it out, but lil ole me could (i can't solve half the thrillers i read, hahaha). anyway, if you want a fast read to bump up your end of year numbers, check this one out.

I read book 2 1st do i had to go back to the beginning. Glad I did...it got a tad predictable in the last 50 or so pages but still read well and didn't feel like a contrived ending. I'm good to go now knowing Sayer's backstory and looking forward to book 3

A solid 4 star debut. Really enjoyed Sayer and her FBI team and especially liked her background in science. The mystery had plenty of enjoyable twists. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
