4.5 stars! Ah, this was so good but that ending killed me! Cliffhangers -- especially ones like this -- are the death of me. I am now in desperate need of the next book in the series! This was probably one of the best stories yet in this series, and I love how the plot and characters just keep getting more and more complex, yet the wit and humour remain! Perfect balancing, I love it!

First foray into non-Grimm characters. Also less of a stand-alone book than others in the series, but presumably because it is #4 of 5 and is the ultimate build-up.

I have really loved this series. Quick to read (after all, it IS a j book series) and full of great characters and wonderful crossovers. Plus he keeps leaving you hanging with the very last sentence! Looking forward to the next one. I hope he can keep it up.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one. The character development for Alex and Conner is done very well. The villain of the series is introduced in full character and how the battle between good and evil is developed is very creative. The series is keeping my interest and I'm ready for the next one.

Once again Colfer has finished this story with a curious cliffhanger. After telling myself I wasn’t going to waste any more time with a story meant for very young readers, I’m curious what will happen next!! On to Book 5!

The best book yet in this series. I am so glad I listened to the thirteen-year-old who recommended it!

this made me want to rewatch merlin

Please note that this book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger.... meaning the bad guy lives to see another day. The Bailey gang is a couple steps behind the Masked Man while trying to figure up his ultimate goal and identity. It was a fun and easy read; we also got to meant some classic characters. I was annoyed at the beginning with Alex being kicked off the council. I mean seriously, these kids have done way more than any of them but they can't give Alex the benefit of a doubt. Ugh, now to just sit and wait for the next one.
