The Farm Stand by Amy Clipston is the second An Amish Marketplace Novel. Each book can be read on its own, but I recommend reading this charming series in order. Amy Clipston is an amazing storyteller. She manages to engage the readers attention and hold it until the very end (make sure you have two or three free hours before beginning one of her books). Salina Petersheim loves working in her garden where she finds solace and it is where she prays to God. She feels like she has few choices because of her father’s expectations. Being a bishop’s daughter is not easy especially when her heart leads her to a Mennonite chef. I could understand Salina feeling intense pressure and being afraid to speak up. You could tell Salina was feeling a variety of emotions as was Will. I liked that The Farm Stand featured Old Order Amish and Mennonite. I had wondered how a marriage between the two different faiths was possible and how it would work. I thought The Farm Stand was well-written with steady pacing and developed characters. I liked revisiting the four cousins from The Bake Shop. All four are present once again in this tale and we get to see how Christiana and Jeff’s relationship is progressing. I liked the messages present in The Farm Stand. My favorite was that God has a plan for each of us. We need to be patient for things only happen in His timing, not ours. I also found the side story about Daisy, the marketplace cat, to be sweet. The ending left me smiling and looking forward to Bethany’s story in The Coffee Corner. The Farm Stand is a poignant Amish tale with plentiful produce, a missing moggy, a determined dad, a muddled maedel, a confused chef, and a glorious garden.

I liked it. But I like ones without “obvious” endings more. A bit too predictable.

The Farm Stand (An Amish Marketplace Novel Book 2) by Amy Clipston
This story is about Celina and she runs a stand at the farm marketplace in town.
Will is a man who runs the restaurant next door. He works out a deal with Celina who sells her harvest from her farm at the marketplace. She's been seeing her friend for over a year now and others contemplate when they will marry. He is seeing his girl for the past 3 years but he's in no rush to get married.
They each must come to a decision as to what is important for them. They do like one another and confide in their secrets and wishes.
There are so many obstacles for each of them there is no way they will ever be a couple...
Love food samples and fun things the Amish do in downtime.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

When Will, a Mennonite young man, is searching for fresh, local produce to use at his restaurant, he meets Salina, an Amish young woman with a produce stand, at the Market. They soon become friends and share the struggles of their relationships with one another. They realize that they are dealing with some of the same issues and have more in common than they think. Will this friendship turn into something more or are they just not giving it their all in their current relationship?

This was such a great book. I found it hard to put down and needed to know what would happen next.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

In this sweet story by Amy Clipston, duty and respect gets in the way love. Salina Petershelm's father is the bishop of her church, and her brother is a deacon. They have very high standards for Salina, including deciding who she should marry. So, durifully, Salina has dated Josiah for just about a year. But there are no sparks, no deeper feelings.

But when a Mennonite chef named William Zimmerman meets Salina, as his restaurant is next to her farm stand where she sells produce, sparks fly. However, she is dating Josiah and Will is dating another woman. How do the pair deal with growing feelings with their current circumstances

What a wonderful story. I so felt for Salina. Her emotions were palpable. Not only did she have to listen to father and obey his wishes, then constantly being compared to her brother, was just too hard for her to bear. While dealing with her family, she must take measure of her heart and decide if she really wants love in her future.

I have loved both books in this series so far and am more than pleased that two other books are coming out, The Coffee Corner this December and The Jam and Jelly Nook next May. I definitely look forward to reading those two. Amy Clipston is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers of Amish Fiction.

Many thanks to Zondervan and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

One of my favorite things about these novels is I always get a happy ending. The challenges are simple with misunderstandings and it’s a really amazing pallet cleanser for someone that favors horror. This is the second book of the second series I’ve read by this author and I love her work at this point.

3.5 stars, rounded up. While I don’t like reading stories about couples falling in love while they are dating other people, I thought this book handled it well in terms of the pressure on both Salina and Will from their respective families. Each of them felt pressured into dating their significant other by their family members, so I didn’t mind that they were dating other people at first. The characters were relatable, and they were sweet with each other. I didn’t like Caroline at all. She came across as desperate and clingy. I was glad she found her own happy ending though. Overall another cute read from Amy Clipston.
