4.5 rounded up

Very well done, characters are rich and multidimensional while the drama and pain practically seeps through the pages. I stuttered over the world building a bit, as it’s obvious that I missed a series that would fill in some back story. That said, though I could tell there was more, lacking that information did not take anything away from this tale, it is not necessary reading in order to enjoy this.

First person, multiple POV, cliffhanger, rated r, rh

Book 1 in The Witch’s Monsters series by Sarah Piper.
OMG where to start. This is a first book for me by Sarah Piper seen a lot of her work for awhile but not got around to reading any of it on this case listening. I did start with this book which as I’ve started listening to it and realised that I was behind and missed part of this backstory because it’s in a previous series but once I realise this and listen to it in a different way it is a fantastic book I’m gutted it’s taken me this long to find this writer of the series. it is full on it’s action packed it starts off really quick and the witches monsters as she calls them are sexy as hell and I love that each one of them is very distinctive and different in character and the fact that there is quite a lot of narrators in this book so each one has a different sound in different feel to them absolutely love it cannot wait for more and I’m gutted again that is taking me this long to find them.
It’s an absolute must to listen to this an audiobook it is amazing I cannot tell you how great it is worth well more than five stars but that’s a limit

Series review: Fun! Enjoyable heroine, likeable heroes with distinct personalities and relationships, interesting and full world, engaging plot. I didn't love the book 4 cliffhanger but otherwise the series arc felt solid. I had no idea this was a spinoff from another series, which confused me early on when it seemed like I was expected to know backstory, but it didn't ultimately matter to understanding this series.

~*~ Audio Review ~*~
I was sucked into this story from the start. This story follows Haley a blood witch, Elian a fae vampire, Jax a fear demon and Hudson a gargoyle on a dangerous mission to protect Haley’s family. I love the connection these four have and there are a lot of emotions from their pasts that give the story depth and there is also plenty of heat.

The audiobook really brings this story to life. Mackenzie Cartwright is the perfect Haley, she does a great job portraying Haley’s feistiness, Teddy Hamilton brings to life Elian and you can feel all the characters turmoil in his performance. Jason Clarke does a great job in his delivery as the broody Hudson. Aaron Shedlock was the standout for me in this audio as Jax.

This book does end in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Haley and her monsters.

Haley is one of my new favorite characters. She is so strong and resilient and loves fearlessly and without the thought of repercussions. With her history you would think that she would be a little more reserved and would avoid relationships, but she seems to dive headfirst into them, and she cares about so many people and wants to do right by them. The guys are all vastly different. Elian seems selfish but I don't think we know his whole story, so I am holding out hope for him. Hudson is my favorite so far because all he wants to do is protect Haley from everything including his friends if he deems them a threat and I think she needs someone like that looking out for her. Jax meets her head on but I know he has something in his past that makes him not want to dive into anything serious so I think they both will be able to help the other heal from past relationship trauma. Can't wait to dive into book two because that cliffhanger was shocking.

I really loved this book. It's the first of what will be a series of 4 books that follows witch Haley and her 3 monsters: Elian the vampire fae, Jax the demon and Hudson the gargoyle. This is a reverse harem series which makes for a very fun and interesting character dynamic. I think Hudson was my favorite dude in the first book.

This book ends in a cliffhanger that has me anxiously awaiting book 2!
