As written in the forward, Seeing Gender is a combination of “historical, eye-opening fact, and human feeling and experience.” This colorful and detailed nonfiction title provides education, experience, support, and validation for those wanting to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community in an introductory manner. Some of the content is sensitive, but it is explained and explored through an educational lens that assists readers in answering questions in a safe format. This is a good book for readers looking to learn about gender and sexuality.

The illustrations and concepts covered were great! The intro and title of the book, however, was a bit misleading.

I was hoping this could be a resource I could suggest to people who struggle with me being non-binary but the concepts are so varied and the tone of some gave me whiplash and I'm really well versed in these topics already.

Personally it was helpful to read the author's perspective and how she sees the world. I guess I was hoping for something slightly different based on how the book was presented in the beginning

Este libro debería estar en todas las escuelas y hogares, espero pronto esté en español.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

in some ways, this book is a decent introduction to some of the concepts, history, and people behind our current ideas on gender. but it's also a lot about the author's gender, which frankly i did not pick up the book for. i'm glad she's got her journey, and it will probably resonate with someone, but it felt like she ran out of what she wanted to cover or was excited to tell her story as well. the illustrations are sometimes interesting and add to the book, but sometimes feel like an after thought. it ends up being kind of muddled since it's just random selections of thoughts and ideas without a solid narrative.

Very comprehensive and informative book, though written with what at times read as a strangely detached tone. There were a number of wonderful personal gender stories at the very end that I think would have improved the book if they were interspersed throughout, or treated as "intermission" between the two main sections. This really isn't a "comic" so much as it is an informative book with lots of graphics; I do wish the graphics that were made as sorts of visualizations were a bit more precise, though.
