A surprisingly refreshing approach to the industry of death - or death in general. The author alternates between her personal experience in a crematorium and essays about certain aspects of death ; which I loved but I was hoping for more anecdotes on her actual job.

I literally could not love this book any more.
Grotesque, hilarious, affecting and truly deep all at the same time. Were this full of fewer vile descriptions of corpses (not for the squeamish even a little) I would straight hand this to anyone I meet and make them read it.

I really enjoyed this book. I think everyone should read this to better understand what occurs after we die.

4.5 ⭐️ This was very well written. A mixture of facts and personal anecdotes, this nonfiction kept my attention the entire time. By adding humor to a normally morbid subject, Doughty has already begun dismantling the taboo around death.
