This one was probably 3 1/2 stars. I think my enjoyment of this series has really varied so far. Sometimes I think it's brilliantly thought provoking, other times I wonder what the heck they're doing. This volume had both moments for me. I'm still very interested in the series, so I'm reading on.

trust me it is that good i am afraid of the ending so i hear that most of the big comics ended in an unsatisfying way for the readers i hope it has an ending as amazing as the ending of the sandman and i have already planned to read fables after this i wonder if i will need more then 30 days to finish the remaining 6

The story is getting wild, but in a great way. I'm starting to see some character development which is rewarding.

By itself I am not sure how much I like this volume but I am sucked into the overall story of the series and thus gobbled it up.

Something that came through for me after reading this volume is how good this series is at moving from storyline to storyline and setting each up as it's own fully fleshed out world.

Yorrick is forced to deal with some sexual demons; 355 and Dr. Mann encounter a fringe militant separatist group.

Yorick: Hey, how come there are so many women in here?
Grandpa: 'Cause women live longer than men.
Y: Why?
G: 'Cause they suck all the goddamn life out of us.
Y: Oh. -- Well, it must be cool to be, like, the only guy with so many girls all over the place.
G: You crazy! It's hell on Earth! Nothing worse than ladies in numbers. -- Someday, you'll understand...

The first story in this trade is a bit kooky, and was filled with sexual violence I wasn't really expecting. I can't say I disliked it, but I can't say it really grabbed me either.
The second plot wasn't really anything that great either, more of the same "psycho women the hero's need to kill". What really saved this trade was the character development, particularly for Yorick, who throughout the series has been a mix of too-stupid-to-live and secretly-a-genius.

These should probably all be 4s, but, y'know.

This volume takes Yorick, the only man left on Earth, and molds him even more into someone you want to keep reading about. Along with that, new characters (dependant on the plot) capture my interest. The illustrations are awesome.
