This book was very challenging to read. Anyone who knows or has lost someone to addiction this book can be very triggering. I think this book did an amazing job at shows how poverty, classism, capitalism, addiction, and trauma affect people but specifically the Appalachian people. This book has very flawed characters which just adds to the depths of the characters. Although this book explored dark topics it still kept you engaged the entire time.

Absolutely loved this book. The author capture the main character’s voice in such an authentic way. It’s unique but also extremely relatable. There is a lightness to the storytelling that balances the heaviness of the story itself.

This book is upsetting and stressful. It is not for the faint of heart, but it is a well crafted story about a minority demographic in the Appalachian mountains. As a Tennessee queer, this story was extremely important to me. It was also very well written. Check the content warnings for your triggers, but if it's within your tolerance, I highly recommend this book.

This book!! It is so full of unbridled beauty and darkness. It paints the underbelly of foster-care and opioid abuse in this country in a new light. I was particularly touched by the main character's unbelievable faith in humanity after consistently being exposed to devils and cowards. 3/4s of the way through, the main character's circumstances were so horrible that I almost gave up, but I am glad I stuck it out until the end, which surprisingly left off on a hopeful outlook with possibilities ahead. I will think about Demon Copperhead for a long while, I think.

Always love a good Barbara Kingsolver novel but this was something else. This modern retelling of David Copperfield was more than I could have hoped it would be. Demon's voice was truly insightful and such an interesting perspective. I was hooked after the first chapter and devoured this book in a little over two days.
