Amazing. I thought about this book all the time when I was reading it and miss it now it's finished.

I implore anyone who sees this to READ THIS BOOK! It’s a modern day retelling of Dickens’ David Copperfield, that takes place in modern day (1990’s) Appalachia. The main character Damon (Demon) is so likable, but his many living situations are so anger inducing. I spent a fair portion of this book being angry at one character or another.
I am somewhat hit or miss with Barbara Kingsolver. If I like one of her books I am absolutely in love with it. But there are books of hers that I can’t get past the first couple chapters. This book had me straight from Jump Street.

So so so good! Wonderfully written, tragic, uplifting, horrifying, terrifying. Highly recommend, but not for the faint of heart.

I read it slowly. I didn't want it to end.
