Honestly this book is okay. But I noticed many issues of the wrong name being used when it comes to the female mc. There was also a lot of religious propaganda that almost turned me off from even finishing this book. I migh read the next one as it's an interesting idea but just not the best execution.
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Murder, Physical abuse, Alcoholism, Child abuse, Grief, Kidnapping, and Torture

Suspense isn’t my go-to genre but I decided to try this book out since I’ve heard a lot of good things about this trilogy.
While it was interesting, it took me a little while to get into the story. It had a slow start for me and I felt like it took a while for things to start happening. The pace did start picking up around 60% through the book. At that point, plenty was happening which made the book hard to put down.
I liked that it was told in first person and it was well-written. While suspense books are definitely out of my comfort zone, I liked this book for the most part.
As with most suspense books, it does deal with some heavy topics so I would recommend to mature readers.
Overall, this book was a quick, interesting read and I think suspense lovers would love it. I plan to read the next book since it did end on a bit of a cliffhanger that made it hard not to want to continue the trilogy!
