16/07/19 update 5*
I absolutely ADORE Macbeth and honestly every single time I teach this... I'm amazed at how fabulous this story is and how it inspires children year after year. This has been my third year teaching this and one of the positive things about being in Y4 again is that I'll hopefully teach Shakespeare again...
Must recommend the BBC's adaptations with the music as well because that is fab.
Honestly, it has made my year that loads of my boys have dived into these books. THANK YOU, SHAKESPEARE!

A great refresher - 4*
I am currently re-reading Macbeth (the actual play) but I have paused it because I don't want to get too far ahead in the story as we're only currently focusing on the scene of the Witches. I don't know how Shakespeare is set out as it is the school is a Royal Shakespeare Company Hub - it should be really exciting!
I re-read this one for a refresher for the whole story really and I thought it might provide me with some display inspiration. This retelling is beautiful and close to 5* but I have a love/hate relationship with the character of Macbeth so that's why it is only rated 4*.

I enjoy both the original and the adaptation from Matthews.
My first Shakespeare play so it was a great introduction into the world of Shakespeare.

This was good I now aspire to go out and but the actual version of Macbeth I think this is accessible for all and would be good for those who are wanting a little taste of what Shakespeare is like

Please do not ask about this. It's literally the only thing I've read in the last three weeks. I will say that that it is a very good adaption if you have a 9-11 year old that needs to read Shakespeare for some fucking reason. It works well alongside the BBC Teach Macbeth literacy planning for KS2 and the chapters in the book match almost exactly with the animations from the BBC. I bought a boxset of sixteen other Shakespeare adaptions written by the same people so the joke's on me, I think.

I loved the pictures in the book, and how it's so simple and easy to read.

I like the retelling of this aimed for children because it’s a very good way to introduce children into Shakespeare. I liked the use of Macbeth quotes in this but I wish their were more. 3.75 stars because I wish their were more key quotes in it, otherwise would have been a 4 and the original Macbeth is 5 stars
