I picked this book up on a whim, purely because it sounded like a good old fashioned murder mystery which I am a sucker for.

I did enjoy this book but not as much as I thought I would. Maybe it’s something I’ve read too much of now that it’s not as interesting for me. As a result, I probably wouldn’t pick up any further books in the series.

I guess the best way to describe this book is Agatha Christie but set in modern day India. So if you’re a fan of Christie’s works, I think you’d enjoy this one.

I was interested in the premise of this book because it felt like a classic Christie setup but the execution wasn't as successful as I'd hoped. I found the dialogue a bit stilted and the characters blurred together a little. We're also supposed to implicitly trust the detective and we're told he's brilliant, without much backstory or detail which meant I wasn't as invested as I wanted to be. I thought the setting was really atmospheric and there were some good twists but unfortunately I did feel like something was missing.
