It's a really good examination of both suburbia and the objectification of teenage girls

fucking gross.  this book feels wet. it’s not the story of youth dashed before blooming, it’s a teenagers sick fantasy with the girls next door. KEEP IT IN UR PANTS PLEASE

I like how raw this book feels. Written from the POV of boys who were captivated by the Lisbon's girls hermit life and the following mass suicides, the obsessiveness of the boys do teeters on the creep side, however their introspective reflections on the events add a human touch to a haunting tragedy. The prose is very atmospheric, and if I could only use one word to describe it, 'dense' would perfectly encapsulate the reading experience of this book.
