J'ai oublié ma liseuse pour passer un week-end à Paris : sitôt arrivé, je flânais dans une librairie et m'y ruinais donc en livres.

4 livres pour 2 jours, on pourrait en rire, mais j'en ai lu 3 avant mon retour…

Les Impatientes était le premier de la sélection. Court et terriblement dur, il suit trois jeunes femmes qui doivent faire face au rapport au mariage et au patriarcat des hommes puissants de leur entourage. J'ai beaucoup aimé le fait que ce soit raconté du point de vue de trois femmes différentes, mariées à des hommes bien différents et qui ont leurs propres personnalités et besoins − dont aucun n'est satisfait par leur compagnon, bien sûr.

Ce roman, une lecture douloureuse et extraordinaire, m'a brisé le cœur. Bravo.

This emotional book/ lots of familial abuse checked off the Cameroon box for my “books around the world” challenge. It’s a story which will stick with you. Recommend it.
