Forced submission training, my beloved dark trope.

Larkin is extremely naive to the point that it’s like his rose tinted glasses turn every red flag into just a flag. His rigid morality and intimacy issues are borderline autistic coded. The only thing missing is being too literal and having a weird relationship with food lol.

The story tries very hard to convince me that Real Feelings happened, and to a certain extent they did. But Larkin and Jade were never vulnerable with each other emotionally while bonding in the cave, so the ramp up to them being in Love felt a little artificial.

Regardless, it was an enjoyable read, and I’m suuuuper curious about the next book after that epilogue.

First thing's first, I want to say that I appreciate the forward written by the authors', as it describes exactly what you're going to get. The authors' are right: this is just fiction and they are exploring tropes and kinks within that medium. I am mentioning all of this to say that the dubcon, rape, etc. are not the reason for my rating.

The reason for my rating is that I find the book to be avergae. The Dragon and His Prince is not horrible, but it's not for me. Despite it's short length, it took me days to complete because I kept getting bored. And I even skipped and/or skimmed a good few chapters (you know the ones).
And I have to say, the whole "heal SA trauma with more sex" was a really weird choice that I don't agree with, despite the content warnings the authors' offered.

The writing style is not bad, though. If you know you like monster romances (and you've read the trigger warnings and are okay with them), then you should give this a go.

Ugh! I This book would have been fine, not great but acceptable, without the
multiple SAs that added absolutely nothing to the story. I don’t understand the need to glorify the assaults but making them more graphic than the scenes between the MCs.

***You don’t heal SA by IMMEDIATELY having more sex!!! WTF was that?

Aside from that Larkin was stupid to be dumb.
