Her books always leave me feeling hollowed out and raw, but I keep coming back for more. She knows how to write about people and life in a way no one else can.

Okay I did not realize while adding the content tags that there were so many things. The book explores many issues, but I think it does so honestly and realistically. The characters are a little messed up but I feel that's what makes them real. Don't read it if you want something light and carefree.

This story began as a wonderful and youthful tale of forbidden love, but morphed into a hyper-realistic reflection of life. This is not the book if you are hoping for a happy ending or tragic romance. It's somehow perfectly balanced in-between.

I suppose it was an easy read, I read it at the airport and during my flight and finished it right as my flight was wrapping up. However, I was under the impression that this was a widely loved book and... I am not exactly sure how that is true. I suppose if reading books

about women who keep ending up in abusive relationships

is your cup of tea, then sure, this might be a good book for you. I, however, don't appreciate the this kind of story trope, so I probably would not read this book again, and I probably actually would not recommend it to anyone.
