I think I'm sick of reading/watching couples who just can't seem to get it right (read One Day in December by Josie Silver last year and couldn't stand it). And I know...this is what this whole novel is for. I have to commend it for its pacing (seriously--I love how it skipped months and/or minutes), topics it discusses, and the ability to get me to care about some of those most minute moments in the characters' lives. Connell and Marianne were caricatures of characters I've seen before, though, and I found my opinion on them moot at points. But mostly, I'm left so unsatisfied by the ending (which I know is life--I get it).

i love this book for so many different reasons. so much truth and gut wrenching honesty about love but also about class and socioeconomic disparity.. this book was honestly just my kind of read. it felt like real love, not the cringy kind you only ever read about in books

Beautifully written portrayal of the characters' interior lives. I'll admit that the ending let me down a bit, but maybe I'll change my mind after pondering it a bit.

I really really liked it and couldn’t put it down, read it in 2 days! It felt so realistic to real love and emotions. I wished she used quotes though when characters were talking!

I think the writer did a good job at poking my curiousity. She made me want to know what will happen next and how is this going to end. I also like that she covered issues (bullying, depression and abuse) that people go through in everyday life and that it sort of stains them in their way of thinking and acting. But everytime I opened the book to read I would also be left with some confusion and a feeling of dislike for the main characters. I think it might be that I wanted them to be more open to each other in there communication. It felt like their relationship was misunderstanding after misunderstanding and it makes me question who would linger in a relationship like that.
