I wanted to like it but I just couldn't get into it. Tried it twice and i wasn't feeling it
What a book. My God.
(Gods?)
Having only read The Ocean At The End Of The Lane so far, I was unsure of what I should expect from this book, but damn if it didn't deliver.
I'm officially a fan.

Amazingly epic story that I didn't realize all of the many the details of until the very end. While I enjoyed it I didn't feel like I had enough mythological knowledge to truly enjoy it on a deeper level. It would make a fantastic tv show especially one on HBO. Can't wait to see it.
Ega see raamat ilmaasjata Hugot võitnud.
“Listen, gods die when they are forgotten. People too. But the land's still here. The good places, and the bad. The land isn't going anywhere. And neither am I.”
“Religions are, by definition, metaphors, after all: God is a dream, a hope, a woman, an ironist, a father, a city, a house of many rooms, a watchmaker who left his prize chronometer in the desert, someone who loves you—even, perhaps, against all evidence, a celestial being whose only interest is to make sure your football team, army, business, or marriage thrives, prospers, and triumphs over all opposition. Religions are places to stand and look and act, vantage points from which to view the world. So none of this is happening. Such things could not occur. Never a word of it is literally true.”
This book is about a chilling story, a road trip, a hike. It is about gods, old and new alike, and undeads, zombies, facelesses, coin tricks and games of checker, the sun and the moon. It is about America, but it is not about America. It is about a man named Shadow Moon, or Michael Ainsel, or whoever he was, whose life was intertwined with a brewing storm — an epic war beneath the placid surface of everyday life in America.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and listening to the Audible. The voice actors and actresses were amazing, as well as the text.
