Classic Neil Gaiman, vast in scope, incredibly imaginative, and surprisingly queer.

the only reason i finally read this book (it had been in my to-read list forever, and after they announced the tv show i was like 'umm, maybe i could read it now?' and then promptly forgot all about it), was because i saw some fanart of the scene where shadow asks the raven to say 'nevermore' and its says 'fuck you' back, and i thought it was hilarious lmao. and it's probably the best exchange of words in the entire book.
anyway, i started not liking it a lot but then at some point it really grabbed me and i couldn't stop reading it? which kind of sucked when the end turned out to be pretty lame. or maybe i'm just pissed because it's almost 7 am and i just spent the entire night reading for that wack-ass ending!

This was my first Gaiman novel and it was a wonderful ride. I've read a lot of his short stories, and this was way better than any of them.
His way of narrating is flawless, interesting and intriguing. He sure knows how to keep the mystery through out the whole book, keeping the reader's attention. There are a lot of interesting characters but what makes the book perfect is the interaction between them. The dialog adds so much to everything.
Ofcorse none of this would be possible without the main character, Shadow, who gets involved in God knows what. *God, hehehe. His sensibility and loyalty is what will lead you through the story cheering for him. He is a guy who made a mistake and has his morals to which he sticks.
Even if you are a slow reader, this book is worth your time.
