4.5/5* I received this book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. Open Late consists of several of his short works and a few excerpts from some of Detzner’s novels, some published, some not there yet. I found myself quite enjoying his short works, especially Ducks and The Black Plague. His short works are full of personality and the writing style is easy on the eyes and easy to follow. I find myself wanting more from the excerpts of his larger works, especially Millersville and Charlie Hammer Takes a Ride. The former being centered around a women’s prison and the latter being about “a ghost that goes on a road trip.” Both have me quite intrigued. These excerpts set up worlds that I find myself still thinking about hours after having read them, wondering what is to become of these characters. I’d highly recommend looking into this author and seeing for yourself how great these works are.
