Thank you for NetGalley for sending me this book for review. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't the greatest mystery novel I have read, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

My main issues with the novel were the focus on drug-use and a job as a bartender in a strip club as a last resort for the main character. Personally, this felt a little cliche and predictable. It made the novel seem unoriginal. As well as this, the "romance", if I can even really call it that, was not at all necessary. The prologue really gripped me, but the rest of the story did not quit match the pace that had already been set. For me, it did not feel essential to the novel and as a result of these flaws, I had to drop my rating from a four to a three.

However, whilst the novel wasn't pulse-pounding, the mystery kept me guessing, with shock twist and turns that surprised me at every turn. The characters, although not flawlessly written, were individual and had their own interesting back stories that pieced together with the present of the story. Everything in this novel by Laurin gelled together well; every piece of information mattered, which was crucial in making me want to know who was responsible. The plot, though it had some flaws, was mostly understandable and overall created a decent story.

I loved this book for a mystery-thriller! This kept me on my toes and every time I picked it up, I got sucked back in!

I took a break from reading for a bit but had been eyeing this one on my bookshelf for a while. It was not a nice way to get back to reading in all honesty. I could only get through 3 chapters and was falling asleep in the process. Tried picking it up again but it’s not worth it

This book was amazing! I loved the overall theme and the story draws you in. It is suspenseful and evokes the emotions of the main character. I felt her desperation, her fear, her heartbreak. I couldn't put it down! Highly recommend!

Overall, a pretty good thriller. The ending felt like it wrapped up too quickly and I feel like it wasn’t ever explained terribly well... but I really enjoyed the characters in the book, although I didn’t like all of them (or even many of them). I feel like the protagonist was honestly portrayed too based on what she had survived.

I would give it another star if it were longer. I felt cheated after I read it. I paid $9.99, which is what I pay for full novels that keep me busy for days, for a short book. It was a good read, but I'm disappointed. So many storylines could have been extended to continue the thrill.

Good writing, good plot - i didn’t really see it coming but also it felt expected once i reached it. There wasn’t enough build or details on the wife/husband dynamic and the sexual accusations for me. But it was the first book i’d read in a while and enjoyed it.
