I was liking the book at first but then the exciting slowly fizzled out and everything happened so rapidly.

I enjoyed this story, which is another installation into Bell's "Bondesque" series. I felt for both Mina and Drew, and I loved the glimpse into Beatrice's life.

I really love regency romances. Yes, I know they're formulaic and sometimes rather silly, but Lenora Bell writes witty, sexy, romantic stories that are highly enjoyable. She's rapidly becoming one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

Nando’s Spice Rating: Medium

I really enjoyed the mystery vibes which I usually hate in historical romances. This wasn't spooky or anything like that so I think that's why I enjoyed it.

I liked how H and h were a team giving me us vs the world vibes. However, the steamier scenes felt stunted and awkward to me so I wasn't really rooting for them.

I do think how this book was pitched to me was a lot different to what I actually read.

Overall, I liked the writing, but maybe this specific book by this author wasn't for me.

3.75 stars. While this story was sweet and smut was great, I'm not sure I felt much about the characters, and with the dukes kidnapping as I child I expected to feel more for him than the little bit that I did. The heroine is sweetly over confident in some areas and very competent in others. I did enjoy how they started off antagonizing each other, her to dissuade him from taking an interest, him just in reaction to her, and of course becoming very interested.
Characters 3.5 stars + Smut 4 stars = 3.75 stars

I don’t remember that much about this book honestly, so I’m going with 2 stars.

I remember being underwhelmed by pretty much all of it and there being some weird typos? Words missing? Things like that. Very frustrating. I also didn’t get why Mina had to be a spy. Didn’t seem like a great premise to me and it didn’t convince me in the end.

I enjoyed this somewhat as I read it, but now that I am writing a review a few weeks later, I have completely forgotten the characters and the plot. I do remember that the spy plotline never felt fully developed.
