I hadn’t read a skiing romance before so I thought I’d give it a chance!

This one was not bad by any means, just frustrating!

Jackson is a PT on the national skiing team. She gets assigned her ex boyfriend from 5 years ago. Nate left when she was in the hospital from a skiing injury. He never called or texted. He never told her why he left. Now, she’s “dating” another skier and isn’t interested in his explanations. He’s determined to win her back slowly. It is a very slow burn in that aspect. I just wanted to shake them both to get them to talk.

In the end, there is a conflict that I think Nate handled poorly, but the FMC ended up groveling. I don’t think she alone did anything wrong. Too much miscommunication.

I did love the “I haven’t been with anyone since you” moment!

I saw a tiktok for a One Last Shot (Frozen Hearts, #3) and wanted to give it a try but I realized that even though it could be read as a standalone it was part of this series. So I decided to start from the beginning and I am so glad I did. I really enjoyed this book.

After reading the blurb and realizing this was a second chance romance I was worried that Jackson was going to be a weak female character (which I hate) but I couldn't be more wrong. She is a strong, smart woman with amazing, supportive friends.

I expected this book to be very predictable but I was pleasantly surprised that there were a few surprises in there!

This book hit me right in the feels and did not disappoint. Second chance love romances are always my weakness. Jackson and Nate had instant connection and chemistry despite 5 years of being apart and Jackson living with 5 years of hate. Loved watching them figure out that despite it all, love still overcame the misunderstanding.

I'm going to put a disclaimer in. This review has nothing to do with this story. But I just wanted to let you know that when I searched for a hockey romance on Amazon, this was one of the results this is This story is not a hockey romance. This book is actually a ski racing romance This is a second Chance Romance you do get to see the beginning of their they were younger, but it isn't flipping chapters between present and past, they are memories within present time. Which I really enjoy. This author is New me. I found her through TikTok. This book is also available through Kindle Unlimited (KU) Subscription
