this was miserable to get through. i dislike righteous characters without any other oomph. also huntington's full switch to despising helen didn't full track with me. and gilbert markham is a selfish little boy.
i think the commentary on how women are/appear cold/outwardly unemotional in the face of heartbreak is timeless. men love to use that against us.

I really did enjoy my time with this book. I think that Anne Brontë is incredibly underrated and is definitely worth reading. I loved the feminist views in this book and I adored the main character. This book is a great place to start with Anne Brontë, and is a fairly easy read.
