This book was not at all what I was expecting, but in the best way. I went into it expecting a "run of the mill" cult thriller and ended up with a dark, twisty critique of the power of classism, misogyny, and religious extremism. 

Some of the diologue was a bit cringe and didn't feel like the way these people would actually talk, but besides that the plot, story, twists, were all great and unexpected. Could not put it down!

With excellent narration, this book was 1 part The Handmaid's Tale 1 part Sex Cult at Sara Laurence, and 1 part true-crime podcast. I love mixed medium books so I loved the final element. It was pretty well executed but VERY triggering for certain people I'm sure. It went a bit too far in some places. And it was an intense emotional read. Overall it was pretty good though. Just not what I was expecting.
