I tried to read this because I wanted to know if I liked Remender. I don't think I do? I didn't like this book, anyway. There were a lot of stereotypical plot points that don't interest me (his relationship with Betty, how they deal with his alcoholism, etc.). Just... not engaging. Not engaging and violent. I don't mind violence, but at least give me substance to go with it.

This was so great. This whole story just seemed to flow from beginning to end, with a feeling of inevitability. That’s good writing. It was a nice balance between action and introspection, and ending this book with the family trouble was just as interesting as the superhero stuff. I also like how Remender kept the patented Spider-Man difficulty of juggling a personal life with the superhero gig; it’s cool how that translates and ties the two characters together thematically.

Flash’s specific problems are different from Peter’s, being on-call as a secret symbiote commando, trying to remain sober after losing his legs in combat, but the end result is the same. I definitely need to read this whole arc, right up to the point where it almost certainly goes off the rails with yet another Marvel mandated company-wide crossover event. Hopefully he gets a dozen issues in before that happens.

This was an okay story.

This was about Flash Thompson who uses the Venom Symbyote to be a hero. He is not allowed to stay in the suit for too long or Venom would take over the body. So his missions take a bit longer to get done because of trying to keep the symbyote under control.

There were a few times where it would seem like he was in the Venom suit for longer than he should be and seems to start to lose control but he has these pill like things to help him keep in control.

I found that this was kinda boring at times and I have to see what the next in the series has maybe I will like it more as the story goes on. At this point I am not in a huge hurry to move on to the next volume.

I enjoyed the characters and seeing how Flash was able to handle being Venom but there was just something missing for me to really enjoy the book more.

I am looking forward though to see what happens in the next volumes to see if I like it more.

This didn't start so great but the middle and the rest of this really gave you a feel for this character. Too bad I don't think there are any more volumes. Great character and I would have loved to read more.
