My sister gave me this book for my birthday. This book was so hard hitting but powerful. I felt so close to these women by the end and loved each in their own way. Though they were imperfect they tried to do their best for their families and each other. I will definitely be keeping this author on my radar!

I was mesmerized by this beautifully written book about the lives of three women whose paths come together in South Carolina in the 1920’s. I can honestly say that this is one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I read about 2-3 books a week. I didn’t want it to end, and I’ll probable read this one again.

Historical fiction about 3 mothers.

The racism, classism and sexism found in this era is always a bit of a depressing read for me.

This is a heavy topic book from around the Great Depression in the south following three women of very different backgrounds the bad events are balanced with the finding of good- sometimes it’s hard to rate a book when the topics are disturbing but Spera writes so eloquently that it keeps you engaged and wanting for more.

It took me a little bit into this to fully follow the storyline and connect them. We follow three people whom are all connected and whom all have their own stories! I really enjoyed this one but I do think I’m gonna do a reread of this as a physical book. I sometimes find I can’t get a really good grasp on complicated storylines/historical fiction books with audio. I definitely enjoyed this book!
