I love a good alien invasion and this hit the mark. It's not the best written story out there but it delivers on suspense and intrigue. It was a bit choppy, the story was not flawless it suffered with pacing. It was rushed in some areas and not totally fleshed out but the story did get across. I did however enjoy the story and it was a lot of fun.

A quick, exciting read with just the right amount of snarkiness from the main character to make it funnier than most books in the alien genre. Alice has to attend boarding school in Minnesota because an alien ship has crashed near there and her dad works for NASA. She and her roommates try to unravel the mystery of why they are there and why there are so many gaps in their story. The pacing was effective and the humor helped move the story. There are a few mild swears, some violence (some icky alien stuff) and a kissing scene but it is PG rated. Kids who like end of the world/alien/post apocalyptic stuff would enjoy this story. 6th grade and up.

This was pure YA fun! I love the respectful Native American rep.

A fun alien book, but there were a little too many conveniences for me, and it doesn't get a positive review from Debbie Reese. If I hadn't read that, I might have assumed that the author did enough research and vetting.

So I had this one checked out forever and kept putting it off, and then almost decided not to read it but then I thought I'd give it a try. And man, I'm glad I did!! It's really good! It's super-fast paced, and witty. I like how there's not too much internal dialogue. It's mostly between the characters, who are really fun.
And I liked how none of them betrayed each other or turned out to mean!
I liked how they became friends really fast, mainly because of the circumstances, but turned out to be really good friends. And I liked the aliens. And I really really liked Alice, even if I could never remember her name. Sometimes "witty" characters come off as trying too hard, but it felt natural with her and her dad too. I loved it. AND I liked the integration of First Peoples culture. I thought it put a really unique spin on everything. SO overall, yeah, really good! Lara! Becca! Read!

Sci-fi/action/mystery? Big twist? Had to stay up until midnight to read it in one sitting? Check, check, and check.
