Honestly picked up as a joke? I heard all the hate about it and was like “I could use a laugh” and now I’m preordering the special edition??? I’m a sports romance girly now??? Anastasia was kinda annoying at some points? I definitely can see where she was coming from though. I LOVED THE HOCKEY BOYS!! I saw some people say that the side characters were too much but I loved all of them!! Definitely just a fun little romance that felt like reading fan fiction. Which - at least in my opinion - was very welcomed!
I will say I wasn’t a fan of the surprise pregnancy at the end? They had a whole conversation about how stas doesn’t want children? Just felt a bit weird
Can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series!!

this book was not worth the hype.
the narrators were annoying, for one. nothing happens between the drinking scenes and the sex scenes. a lot of aspects fall flat, and there seems to be little to no plot besides getting drunk and fucking. even then, those scenes aren't that great. i enjoyed the found family aspect, but it wasn't as much a focal point as it could have been. the dialogue was pretty realistic but listening to the audiobook felt a bit awkward and gave me a new ick: "baby" and "bub" 🤮

This book was a 4.5 right up until the epilogue
thats purely because I hate pregnancy stuff so much and it just felt so out of character kinda
apart from that it was good I loved the characters development and how funny the book was also 3 criminal minds mentions had me going insane/pos.

“Icebreaker" is a book that leaves a mixed impression. While I didn't find myself completely enamored with it, I did enjoy the overall experience, particularly appreciating its treatment of important themes.

The story unfolds at a pace that, at times, feels overly prolonged. There were moments where I found myself wondering how much more could happen with so many pages left. However, the ending delivered a satisfying conclusion that made persevering through worthwhile.

One of the book's strengths lies in its characters. Rather than focusing solely on romance, the narrative explores deep-seated issues such as anxiety, eating disorders, and psychological abuse. It handles these themes with sensitivity, emphasizing the importance of mental health and personal happiness over external validation. This aspect of the book resonated deeply with me and added significant depth to the storyline.

As the plot progresses, I did encounter a drawback that detracted from my enjoyment: the excessive focus on intimate scenes. While they are integral to the characters' development, I found myself skipping over these sections towards the end as they became repetitive and somewhat tiresome.

Overall, "Icebreaker" is a commendable read for its nuanced exploration of complex themes and well-developed characters. Despite its flaws, the book manages to deliver a poignant message about self-discovery and mental well-being.
