Juliette is one of the most self-pitying, boy-obsessed idiot I’ve ever read. She’s so busy wallowing in self-pity and she’s reckless and doesn’t think her actions through. For about 50% of the book, she mopes and whines about Adam and how she’s a monster and how everyone is mean and she doesn’t care about anyone except Adam. She spends all of her time ignoring everyone at Omega Point, refusing to interact with anyone that wasn’t him. She even forgot he has a little brother! It really irked me the way she yelled at Castle, a Black man, but then let Warner, a white boy, say whatever he wanted with little interruption. I do like Juliette finally getting over her self loathing and pity part thanks to best boy Kenji, who I love with all my heart. Warner, on the other hand, was kind of meh. The entire drama of Juliette/Aaron/Adam kind of overshadowed the plot. If Adam had just told her what was going on, a lot of things would’ve been easier.

This is my second read of this book. Here was my GR review (I gave it 5stars):
I am loving this series! This book had so many moments where I was listening and my mouth was hanging open. So many twists. The heat… well it was there, but it’s set to a low simmer. And I’ll just say it, I’m team Warner.

Not sure I have anything to add to this review this time around.

I had a great time reading this, it was quite emotional but also funny, exciting - and sometimes a little bit cringe. The MC was either very scared, very angry or very horny, not much inbetween. Then again, she is a traumatised teenager so I guess that makes sense. I liked the side characters a lot. There was one instance where I thought the writer was being really racist?? I don't really know what was going on there. There were more plottwists than in the first book, some of them were surprising and some of them I had already anticipated, it was okay.
Adam gave me really strong Gale/Jacob vibes right from the start, if you know what I mean.

This book added a lot of character development to all of the characters. It gave me insight on how each character acts and a little insight on why they are doing it. Even though the series is Juliette's pov, I feel connected to each character. Kenji is my favourite by far & Warner has now taken up a special place in my heart. Adam is such a good character and his brother, James, is such a cutie.

What I’ve concluded this from reading this book: I must have a thing for psychotic guys? Anyway, Warner tugged at my heartstrings throughout this book and I loved his character development.

Juliette is finally becoming a character I’m growing to love. The first book mainly showcased her standing in the sidelines, which though made sense for her character, was starting to get old.

This story is one of mental and physical resistance. What I like about Juliette as a character is she’s never been one to be like “I’m so tough because of what I’ve been through.” What she has experienced in her life is extreme trauma. No one would be able to turn around from that without severe mental health consequences. This story is not her shoving away her trauma, but starting to embrace what happened in the past and not exactly “overcome” it per se, but realize that it’s always going to be a part of her life and she can’t change that, but she can keep moving forward.

I would highly recommend continuing on this series even if you weren’t the biggest fan of the first book, trust me it gets better.
