I remember reading this book from childhood and it was a very nostalgic reread for me ! He was my hero and I wanted so much to be like him! Robin Hood’s last words “Where this arrow lands, there shall be my grave” still haunts me to this day ❤️

A refreshing take on a classic story. All of the characters were introduced and developed wonderfully, and almost everyone was likable. I could be wrong in assuming that Robin Hood originally had his love interest Maiden Miriam, but she was not present in this version. I partly like that because the story wasn't focused on Robin Hood's love, but on the other hand, it felt repetitive. Lots of the introductions to the merry men were the same and nearly all of Robin's adventures felt the same. It was kind of disappointing. It was still an easy, pleasant read and one that I'll be reading to my future children. And, of course, since it is an illustrated classic I have to comment on the artwork. Absolutely beautiful. The sketches were simple and yet so much more detailed and immersive than Beauty and the Beast. Overall, the story was good despite the repetitive adventures and the stunning sketches were really what pulled it together. I would recommend it!
