Emily Henry just knows how to write banter without it sounding really cringe.

I devoured this book in two big chunks over two days. Books about writers just hit differently. I adored their rivalry, their camaraderie, the way previous misunderstandings unraveled between them. Little more steam than my preference, but the scenes were still on the tasteful side, relatively. My only other critique is that January seemed to drink a *lot* of wine.

Highly recommend the audiobook read by Julia Whalen.

I absolutely adore Emily Henry’s writing. I can finish her books in one day because the writing is so seamless and accessible. Her characters are always lovely and I enjoyed being able to observe January’s internal struggle with the loss of her father. It even brought some tears to my eyes at the end.

(4.5⭐️) Taylor Swift songs: “Sweet Nothing”, “Sparks Fly”, “the way I loved you (TV)”, “Delicate”, “Stay stay stay”

Ok I get it now, I understand the hype. The banter and the tension is completely unmatched. You will me smiling with  butterflies fluttering in your stomach during the entire book. This is so much more than a romcom. This is grief, this is healing, this is love with two imperfect people finding happiness and joy in just being together, no matter what life brings. It will break your heart and put it back together. This is absolutely stunning, and gave me all of the feels. I just have no way to express the amount of joy that this brings me. I just love it. Emily Henry does not miss. If you somehow haven’t read this book yet, it is a must read for any romance fan.

Age rating: maybe 16+, a few brief steamy scenes

I don't have a lot of things to say in a critical sense. I just really liked the vibes in this book. It dealt with a lot of themes around familial trauma and grief of people we knew / thought we knew. It wasn't really a light read the way that the title would suggest, but I was fine with that, because I really like romance to have depth to it and I really felt that this one did. I still like People We Meet On Vacation better, but this was pretty solid.

no thoughts just vibes you know
