Well Dang, this was super cute. I was very invested in the story and all the things that happened. It is a Romantasy so it has some cheesy elements but overall I had a great time. Loved how big of a part the magic took in the story (after all, it is the backbone of the plot) and I enjoy the message and commentary it has on right and wrong etc.

There is a magical element that I wish was pushed more throughout as there were some moments later on that I really enjoyed but that is just a personal preference and not an issue with the story. overall it was a great pick me up story and I really enjoyed it.

On a surface level this was a cute story of a girl with overwhelming magic that accidentally curses her father and needs to reconnect with an old friend to save him.

It was an enjoyable story with cute moments that made me think of a studio ghibli movie, but without the world building and the polish.

I finished it wishing there were more throughout the tale.  More world building, more character development, more about the magic,  the family,  more tension.  It'd make a cute movie or show that can expand upon all the flaws.

Flowerheart is a cute story about a girl with flower magic.

The story is predictable, yes, and didn't utilize the magic system to the fullest, as well as the main villain, but the story is ultra cute and the vibes are perfectly spring-ey and cottage core.

Also, the main character was adorable.

cute!! Very fun how Clara's magic and potions are expressed in flowers. 🥰 I once got to create a DnD character that surprisingly looks a lot like Clara and her powers and struggles, so that was a lot of fun!! Hope I can use that character again sometime so I can use this book as inspiration. 🎲

The story isn't super excitinf or tense or fantastically written, but it was sweet. 🌸
I think I would've loved to read more pages, about the world and it's daily life for example! 🌞

Gosh it’s been a awhile since I’ve finished a book in one sitting! This is such a cozy book compared to what I’m used to. I throughly enjoyed the story and characters. The vibe was immaculate and I would read this again!

This book was super cozy and I read it in one sitting. The flower meanings and magic system in the world are beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and would recommend it to anyone craving spring Victorian vibes. Studio Ghibli meets The Meaning of Flowers. Beautiful Imagery.

I enjoyed the relationship between Clara and her father. He seems really devoted as a single parent and the complex feelings between Clara and her mother, who left when she was young, were tragic and realistic. The way these feelings are entangled with the magic system at play in the novel was really interesting and I almost want it more obviously connected.

Flowerheart is 5 stars for me, however, I do wish the characters were just a little older and we got a few more glimpses of the love interest's backstory earlier. It feels like the main leads are college-age for most of the books but I believe they are younger than that. It makes the romance feel a little weird. Ages of maturity were never really discussed in the book. Despite this, I want to know more about this world. Which makes me very excited to read future books by Catherine Bakewell.
