Couldn’t make it through. I struggled to get into it from the get go. I have no issue with female leads but this one was so unrealistic. I couldn’t stand the clear male wannabe envy she has and what a messy sloppy read. One minute I was excited about her meeting a serial killer the next we hear nothing but mules for pages and pages. Based on the other reviews I’ve read I am glad I didn’t waste my time with the whole thing. The only thing I am disappointed in is this was my first Baldacci novel and I’m afraid it’s put me off for good.

Got slow toward the end and a little outside of my interests in terms of the espionage and global politics of it all. The most interesting storyline to me (her sister’s kidnapping) only got a couple pages.

I want to know more about the mystery surrounding Mercy. The espionage stuff just bores me. But I liked the main character and I plan to finish the series.

Audiobook. I liked the characters and their stories but the plot just seemed *too* far fetched. Which says a lot considering the books I like. It might also have been the plot with the story development. Maybe too much of a jump. I’ll try another in the series to see if they are similar or if it gets better

Overall I liked this book - the characters, the setting and for the most part, the story. It’s been a while since I read Baldacci, but from what I remember he was always detailed enough with the plot that I could grasp the situation without being overly complex. This time I found that area lacking - don’t know if was just me or his writing. Atlee Pine is an interesting character though and I will read the second book.
